It is preferred that the appointment be taken up in the first half of 1983. Computer Science was first taught at the University in 1974 and graduate courses have been offered since 1978. There are currently 1192cour.se enrolments corresponding to about 168 effective full-time students including 14 graduate students. In addition to the chair, the Department has nine academic positions. The successful applicant for the Chair would normally be expected to be available for the Headship of the Department for an initial term of four years.
