Betty Adios picked for Kurow Cup

A run at the Ashburton trials on Tuesday should prove to have been enough to bring Betty Adios to a sufficiently high peak of fitness to win the Kurow Cup at Oamaru on Monday. Betty Adios will start from 10m in a big field which includes a number of highlyrated pacers. However, she showed such talent late last season that she should prove more than a match for most of the event. Stortford Lodge. ' too. nanaht fhp PVP at the Ash-
burton trials on Tuesday. He lost ground early and did well to finish second to his stablemate. The Raider, which recorded 3min 7.5 s for the 2400 m. The Ashburton track is falsely fast, but that run showed Stortford Lodge was close to winning form. His trainer. Ted Lowe, produced Ariemore to win this race at long odds 12 months ago. Amaze, which showed to advantage at recent trials at Washdyke. Viewfield Skipper, Travel King. Scottish Sunset. Le Rae and Portfolio are others capable of adding infprpQt tn fhp finish.
The second leg. the Duntroon Handicap, has drawn a low-class field.
Commander Grattan has speed, but he is most inconsistent. to say the least. A bold run at ’the Ashburton trials on Tuesday showed that he is well forward. Should he get his "act" together. he should win this race quite comfortably.
Loyal Onedin. Blueberry Hill.’ Spinstar and Van Mac Faber will have to be considered, while a big run from Mesopotamia would not be a complete surprise.
