Myxomatosis

Sir,-It seems a pity that all factions in the various issues could not get together, so that problems are overlapped, assumptions cross-checked, and positive solutions integrated. For example, inspire every able citizen to turn out on particular days, and carry out multi-species plantings of every available inch of this country, so that in time we could well spare patches of bush and forage for the deer, rabbits, goats, and opossums, mean while using non-cruel methods of control, if essential. We have good grounds for community tree-plantings in the proven fact that trees are vital in helping prevent drought, sunken water-table, soil and oxygen depletion, and erosion, and provide beauty, peace, purer environment, and increased productivity by shade, shelter, and soil-enrich-ment. This can bring cheaper, plentiful crops from ground and trees. The initiators of some such scheme would be giving a common purpose to the people, all ages helping — Yours, etc.,
