A 40 million-year-old jaw fragment (top) of a small rat-like marsupial found in Antarctica, has strengthened the belief of scientists that a single land mass connecting South America, Australia and Antarctica existed. The research team which found the fossil in Antarctica was supported by the United States Science Foundation.
