N.Z.R.U. rejects Proctor
PA Wellington A former Kiwi rugby league prop, Lyndsay Proctor, has had his application to play social rugby union rejected by the New Zealand Rugby Football Union on the grounds that he did not comply with amateur' regulations. ' Proctor, a Kiwi international from 1974 to 1978, has,not played league since
being injured mid-season last year. . He has recently enjoyed the odd game of social rugby for his South Auckland police station as lock or prop. He said he has no intention of returning to league. He-was asked to play for South Auckland ' police against Central Auckland police in an Eden Park cur-tain-raiser on August 4,
which required a clearance from the NZRFU. “I thought it would be a formality that I’d be given the all clear,” he said, “but it looks as though social soccer’s going to be my game now. “I’m not sure what to do about rugby. I don’t want to do anything to upset the rugby chances of the guys I work with who are pretty good players.”
