Money making skills The recent concern shown by the Society for Research on Women about women’s limited financial understanding has already stimulated a group to do something about it. Catalyst Incorporated, the Christchurch-based organisation for women , in management, is running two related seminars . under the title Money Making Skills. Being held at the Y.W.C.A. on July 31 and August 7, they look at the need for profit, examine financial reports, and suggest ways to invest one’s money advantageously. "The seminar has arisen as a result of the S.R.O.W. report which found that women had little money to control, and didn’t understand financial reports. We believe it is the. same in business — women don't get. promoted because they don't understand the financial aspects of business,” observed Carol Lightfoot, Catalyst president. The first session is on profit. Speakers are Alma McMillan, an Auckland shopping mall consultant; Lesley Clouston, manager of the Small Business Agency in Christchurch, and a Catalyst founder; and Richard Ballantyne. a retailer. There will be films and workshops to drive the message home.
