Minister charged
Malaysia’s Minister for Culture, Youth and Sports (Datuk Mokhtar Hashim) has denied in the High Court that he killed a fellow politician in the run-up to the General Election on April 22. If convicted, Datuk Mokhtar, aged 40, considered one of the country’s most promising young leaders, would face a mandatory death sentence. He was accused with four pther men of the murder of Datuk Mohamad Taha Talib, speaker of the Assembly in the southern state of Negri Sembilan, on April 14. —Kuala Lumpur. -
