‘Moral’ remarks attacked
Parliamentary reporter The comments of Miss Patricia Bartlett on the Domestic Protection Bill now before the Parliamentary Select Committee have been strongly attacked bv the Women’s Action Group.' “Miss Bartlett’s comments confirm that her concern is not for people, but merely to enforce her rigid Victorian moral code no matter how harsh the consequences may be." said the group. The main purpose of the bill was to protect women and children who were victims of domestic violence. Miss Bartlett seemed to want to deny this protection solely because a woman might not be legally married.
