Multiple births register?
The New Zealand Multiple* Births Association wants to establish a national multiple births register — the first of its kind in New Zealand. The register is intended to form a basis for research/ projects by the association and . other bodies. .Researchers would be allowed access to the register if the association's 'executive ‘.approved. f Because the association is joining the International
Society for Twin Studies, there would also be access to information from this society, and’ the association would provide New Zealand statistics to the international society. Details are required about the multiple birth family, the number in the family, significant illnesses in the family, and any multiple birth hereditary factors. All .information supplied will be confidential. No direct contact
can be made with families on the register by researchers unless the family gives permission through, liaison with the Multiple Births Association. Through established multi pie birth clubs in New Zealand, the association is already in touch with about 700 families, but. needs to be able to reach as many as possible. The association’s address is P.O.' Box 1258, Wellington. !■
