Big container ship in port
One of the biggest vessels to call at Lyttelton for some time was scheduled to arrive in port at 9.30 p.m. yesterday. She is the 43,995-ton Resolution Bay, which is on a container run to Europe. Because of her size and her 10.9 m draught, the Resolution Bay was scheduled to be brought into.port by.two tugs two hours before high tide. The Resolution Bay, which is on her second visit to port, berthed at Cashin Quay No. 3. The largest vessel ever to call at Lyttelton was the 52,562-ton Largs Bay, which was known as the Nedllbyd Houtman when she first called at the port in 1977. Another interesting vessel is due at port today. She is the Polish, ship, Andrzey Strug, which will load wool for Poland. ARRIVALS New Zealand Caribbean, (midnight) 19,613, New Plymouth (S.C.NiZ.). .
