The final selection of a community was based solely on the personality of the driver concerned. John Hayden. He has been a driver for 10 years, and has always lived in Greymouth. He knows the community intimately. and emerges’ as a subtle, sympathetic, and essentially humorous man. savs TVNZ. Aside from the daily operation of John Haydens taxi business.. the film also features the taxi company dispatcher. Marion Reedy, also a Greymouth native.
who has .-been calling the taxis for almost 30 years. Details of daily life are interspersed in the film with anecdotes '.from several prominent and not-so-prominent older people who can tell stories about their experience of growing up and living in this community.
