Help from employers
Sir,—One is often assailed by the cries of people who consider that the "bosses” of the world have one abiding aim, and that is to exploit their workers. This creates an impression that the bosses consider their workers to be unworthy of humanitarian consideration. Part of my . job entails approaching “bosses,” ranging from the ownefoperator plus a ' half dozen workers, including office lady, to the larger concerns with turnover in millions of dollars, with requests for such assistance as direct crediting. I have found them willing to assist. In many cases they have given hours of their own time in discussion, sometimes to the point of jeopardising important business interests. There have been’ frequent occasions where the employer has “fronted up” with large sums of money in order to safeguard the interests of the employee, such “advances” being unsecured. How often are we assailed by the cries of people vocalising their gratitude for employers who have the welfare of people at heart? Not often enough!— Yours, etc., R. S. SMITH. June 26, 1982.
