General forecast: An anticyclone south-east of Otago is’ expected to remain slow moving, maintaining fine, frosty weather over most of the South Island with light winds. There will be some fog night and morning and some of the frosts may be severe inland. The southeast flow to the north of the anticyclone should persist over the North Island, maintaining cold, showery weather in the east and about Cook Strait. There may be showers on the Kaikoura coast. In areas west of the main ranges fine
weather is expected with frosts in sheltered places. The winds are expected to be strong about Cook Strait.
