Koiro Trelay in Aust.

NZPA Sydney The Melbourne trainer, George Hanlon, will prepare the New Zealand galloper, Koiro Trelay, for this year’s Melbourne Cup. Hanlon said the six-year-old grey, owned by an American cattleman, Dave Canning, had arrived at his stables late last week with the $310,000 Cup (3200 m his main mission. Koiro Trelay, trained in New’ Zealand by Eric Temperton, was a major disappointment in Melbourne last spring, starting second favourite in the Cup and only finishing tenth. Hanlon said he would allow Koiro Trelay to fully acclimatise to his new surroundings and it would be some weeks before he resumed racing. Another New Zealand horse in Hanlon's care at Epsom is the mare Kip. which has not raced since winning the Australian Cup in the autumn. Hanlon said Kip had fully recovered from her injury and would certainly race again in the spring.
