No chairman
The Royal Forest and Bird Protection Society has no Canterbury branch chairman. No member was willing to accept the post at the branch's annual meeting on Wednesday evening but the retiring chairman, Dr K. M. Matthews, agreed to stay as deputy chairman until the chairmanship was filled. A good response to a plea for organisers has boosted the branch committee from seven to 25 member.
