Pottery award winner
PA Auckland Of 275 entries from seven countries. Chester Nealie, a potter at South Kaipara Heads, won this year's Fletcher Brownbuilt Pottery Award of $3OOO for a woodfired pot.
New Zealand potters won five of the nine merit awards, which were announced by the judge, Gwyn Pigott, of Brisbane, at the Auckland War Memorial Museum.

cilia Parkinson, of Auckland: Richard Parker, of Kaeo: Nick Slather, of Auckland; Patrick Shia Crabb, of Tustin. California: Richard Batterham. of Dorset, England: Ray Rogers, of Auckland; Rick Rudd, of Whangaparoa; Stephen Benwell. of Victoria. Australia; and Neil Tetkowski. of Granville, Ohio. Ninety-nine entries were accepted for the final judging and will be on display at the museum until June 20. This year there were 45 entries from overseas — from West Germany. Australia, the United States. Britain, Switzerland, and Japan.
