Actor playing Caesar stabbed in lung
NZPA-Reuter Stratford. OntarioLife almost imitated art when the lead actor in Shakespeare's "Julius Caesar" suffered a broken rib and punctured lung during the assassination scene in the final preview of the tragedy at the Stratford festival. Jack Medley. 54. is recuperating in Stratford General Hospital after the dagger of one of his fellow actors
broke his rib in the preview for the play. “The pain was so intense I had to struggle to my feet to deliver the final line, 'Et tu. Brute’," said Medley, who layon stage until the final curtain fell, without telling anyone he was injured. The British-born Medleydescribed the accident as a profound moment that would forever alter his interpretation of the role of Caesar.
