DIRECTOR OF FINANCE The Hamilton City Council is seeking a suitably qualified person experienced in financial management within a corporate setting for the position of Director of its Finance Department Such a person should have a sound record of achievement in financial and managerial terms in a comparable organisation within the public or private sector and should be able to provide financial management for, and advice to, the Chief Executive, the individual organisational units and the Corporation as a whole. The Council provides a comprehensive range of services to one of New Zealand's largest Cities and the Finance Department has responsibilities in the planning and control of an annual Budget approaching ’5O Million. The position involves the development and maintenance of Finance activities and includes responsibilities for not only the traditional Local Government Treasury Services of billing and collecting monies due to, and the payment of monies on behalf of the Council, but also to the production and interpretation of information and the management of funds for financial planning, programming and control. The Director of Finance will be responsible to the Chief Executive and Town Clerk for the effective fulfilment of the aims of the Finance activities and for the efficient and economic management of the Finance Department. This position carries a commencing salary within the range of $33,611 to $35,474 with possibilities of advancement to $37,245 on merit. A copy of the Schedule of Responsibilities.
