Plaque for police
;A bronze plaque will be presented to Christchurch police today by the Commissioner of Police, Mr R. J. Walton, in appreciation of thteir work during last year’s Springbok rugby tour. ’’lt expresses Mr Walton’s appreciation of the efforts of the Christchurch police to keep order during the tour,” sajid-the head of the Christchurch police district, Assistant Commissioner G. E. Twjentyman, last evening. Mr Walton would present
the plaque at 4.30 p.m. in the police club at the Christ-, church central station, he said. The plaque would eventually be placed on a wall beside the police museum in the station. Mr Twentyman said the plaque was similar to ones already presented to other police districts. Asked why the plaque was being presented so long after the tour, Mr Twentyman- said it was Mr Walton’s‘first visit to Christchurch since the plaques were minted.
