Airlines raise fares 15pc
PA Auckland Air fares between Auckland, Britain, and Europe will rise on June 16, some by 15.5 per cent.
The fare increase, which applies to passengers flying on Air New Zealand or British Airways, will increase the one-way first-class fare
from Auckland to London to $3348. compared with the old fare of $2899. Economy and low-season excursion fares will rise 5 per cent. The economy oneway fare will rise from $1864 to $1957. The low-season excursion will go up from $1628 to $1709. The low-season return excursion will rise from $2124 to $2230. The increases will apply to tickets issued from today’ for travel on or after June 16. Low-season epic fares are not affected by the price rises. The two airlines attribute the higher fares to increased costs and the lower value of New Zealand currency. In addition, a new one-way fare of $2250 has been introduced to cover Air New Zealand Pacific class and the British Airways super club class. .
