Blue Devil’s form hard to beat at Franklin today
Special correspondent Auckland If Rotorua form last Saturday was worth anything. Blue Devil will be hard to beat in the middle race of the treble at Pukekohe today in spite of her handicap. In her Rotorua assignment. Blue Devil beat all except Count Ajax over 1200 m and ran him to threequarters of a length. Certainly Blue Devil is up Bkg in the Grand Prix Handicap. then again she has none anywhere near as good as Count Ajax to beat.
Sparkling Time will likely be the hardest for Blue Devil to beat. Majestic Sky and Cobham, third and second respectively when they' last met. over 2200 m at the Maramarua Hunt meeting on Tuesday last week, seem two of the better prospects for the first leg of the double, the Pukekohe Handicap. And Resolution, if he shows his best form, would make them both go hard. Resolution looked on the way back to good form when third at Taurange on April 24. then third at Ellerslie on
May 8. He was disappointing meanwhile, when well beaten on the second day of the Waikato winter meeting but the heavy ground could have been against him. The third leg of the treble, the Saloon Car Handicap, presents a good number of possibilities, among them Paddy O'Haub. Karsavina and Good News. Paddy O'Haub and Good News are last-start winners, Paddy O’Haub at the Maramarua Hunt meeting. Good News at Dargaville on May 14.
