The Cooper Basin. participants, Basin Oil and . Reef Oil, dominated, the Australian sharemarket yesterday, after National Mutual launched take-over offers for the two oil stocks and Bond Corp abandoned its take-over offers and sold out of the companies. The question of Bond Corp selling its shareholding in Santos remained, and speculation continued after the market closed. The National Mutual bids were quickly followed by hectic trading during which National picked up 51 per cent'of Reef and 38 per cent of Basin. Together the two stocks formed J52.5M worth of business — boosting the day’s trading to S6BM, compared to
SIOM worth of business handled on Monday. National's joint offer will cost ?105M, with’Reef valued at 553.6 M and Basin valued at $51.9M, given the bid prices of 150 c and 200 c respectively.
