Successful accordionist
. Suzanne Walker, aged 10 (above), was one of the most successful competitors at the South Island of Accordionists seventh contest held in Christchurch yesterdav. «. She was second in the
junior group section and in the duet section, and placed third for solo performance. About 64 competitors, with family and friends, filled the South Christchurch Intermediate School in their quest
for the title of “most outstanding performance.” The award finally went to “The Moody Memories” — a group of six performers — Les Laws and Pearl BushKing (accordion), Ralph Small (drums), Judy Cooper (bass guitar), Ron Hill (saxo-
phone), and Heather Mitchell (vocalist). The society’s secretary, Mrs Pearl Bush-King, said that judges were pleased with the day’s performances, especially in the orchestral, ensemble, and amplified accordion sections.
