Racialism
Sir,—Racialism is a destructive force, for which many cures have been suggested. The laws of this country are a good example of one such attempted cure, or should I say slur against the peaceful co-habita-tion of different races. Division is created by many arrangements, such as Maori or pakeha representation in Parliament. Obviously the whole problem of discrimination is an expression of the individual’s thinking, which cannot be legislated against. The solution lies in increasing the individual's awareness — a task the churches have tried and miserably failed at, by simply exposing the individual to the state of their diseased but well-disguised thinking. — Yours, etc., KEVIN SPACEMAN.
