Strike for one day
Production stopped at the Rangiora factory of Deane Apparel, Ltd, yesterday when 40 clothing workers did not report for work after voting on Thursday for a one-day strike in a dispute over bonuses in the overalls department. . The assistant secretary of the Canterbury Clothing Workers’ Union, Mr P. Conway, said that talks had been held for 2V 2 weeks before the workers resorted to • strike action. A further meeting will be held on Monday.
