One-day win to India

NZPA-Reuter Belfast Ravi Shastri produced a splendid all-round performance to inspire India’s cricketers to a five-wicket win over Ireland in a oneday match yesterday. Shastri took three for 20 with his left-arm spin as Ireland was restricted to 134 for nine in its 50 overs and

made the top score of 43 to seal the first tour victory for India, which made 137 for five off 41.3 overs. The Indians’ success was set up by the slow bowlers, with Shastri’s fellow left-arm spinner, Dilip Doshi, snap ping up four for 11 as Ireland lost eight wickets for 73 after a promising start.
