Marine stowaways
Two of the Royal Marines who have landed on the Falkland Islands got there unofficially as stowaways on the troopship Canberra, says a Marine spokesman. “It does appear that one commando unit did discover it had a couple of extra Marines aboard. I’m sure a couple of extra hands in the Falklands are now welcome.” The two stowaway Marines belong to a unit not sent to the Falklands. They vanished from their barracks at the time the Canberra sailed and were at first listed as absent without leave. — Plymouth.
