Rally sponsor pulls out
PA Auckland Plans for next year's international car rally will go ahead despite news that the sponsor for the last five years is pulling out after this year's event, the Motorsport Association of New Zealand said. Next month's Motogard is the last of a five-year contract between Motor Specialties and M.A.N.Z.. and the sponsor has decided not to
renew it. This means that M.A.N.Z. must find another sponsor if it is to have enough money to run another world championship event next year: but M.A.N.Z.'s president, Mr Morrie Chandler, said he was confident somebody could be found to back the rally. “With such world-wide interest, it’s got to be good value for someone.” he said.
