No election

Sir,—Recently, Pakistan’s military ruler, ■ President Mohammad Zia-Ul-Haq, declared that, “there would be no elections in this country in the near future.” It seems. President Zia has twice postponed general elections since coming to power in a coup some five years ago. Nice for some, he wasn’t even voted in. The President said, “democratic rule would return only at the proper time.” I have been waiting with bated breath for those champions of the downtrodden, HART, etc., to make their noble stand and demand voting rights for the .Pakistanis. Or can this not be done as HART is only interested in black consciousness in New Zealand and on the African continent? I have also been waiting to see if Amnesty International will intervene on behalf of the torture victims in Turkey in another effort to white-wash their activities in South Africa.—Yours, etc.. KENNETH R. GRAY Director, Society of Patriots May 19, 1982.
