Funeral for children

PA Wellington The funeral for three of the five children who drowned off the Kapiti coast on Monday will be held at Otaki, near Wellington, today. The service, for the sisters, Erena and Taina Barrett, and for their cousin, Adam Barrett, will be held at the Rangitea Church. A service for Richard and Sam Carthew will be held at the church on Saturday. A police search along beaches in the area failed to find Sam Carthew’s body yesterday. Sam’s father, Mr Graham Carthew, and his sister, Kate, survived the accident, along with the father of the two girls, Mr John Barrett.

The group was out fishing when its catamaran sank on Monday evening.
