declared before rain forced an early close to the second day of the three-day match. The Indian test bowlers, Kapil Dev, Madan Lal, Dilip Doshi and Ravi Shastri, playing together for the first time on the tour, found little in the pitch to aid them and were not helped by fielding lapses.
