The - MSI Corporation has reorganised the activities of Motor Specialities, Ltd. its main subsidiary. Motor Specialities. Ltd. will be the selling arm of the company, and Motor Specialities Merchants. Ltd, on the purchasing and distribution side, will run the new MSI distribution centre. Mr L. P. Evans, the managing director of the Auck-land-based group, announced the changes in a letter to MSI’S customers. "We have basically separated the purchasing and selling arms of the company and created two separate operations," he says in the letter. Mr Evans became manag-ing-director after Repco Australia bought a quarter interest in the MSI Corporation last year: the share has since been increased. Interim profit was $775,000 hut dividend was passed while restructuring was

under way. Mr Evans said earlier he expected this to be completed by June. The shares rose 9c to 108 c last week. Mr P. J. Best, formerly marketing manager for the Repco merchandising group in Australia, has been appointed general manager of Motor Specialities, the selling arm. Mr C. J. Wilson has been appointed general manager of Motor Specialities Merchants. Mr Evans says in the letter that Motor Specialities intends to improve the sale of products offered to the trade through its branch network. improve communications between head office, branches and customers, obtain sources for the addition of new lines to the product range, and achieve better stock control. “The new sales organisation within Motor Speciali-

ties would probably be the most high-powered of any merchandising operation with a line-up of successful sales executives,” he says.

The main objective of Motor Specialities Merchants will be to work with existing suppliers to establish better stock distribution to the new centre with lower lead times, to work with Motor Specialities to ensure efficient stock distribution through the branch network, to modernise materials handling at the Mount Wellington site, and to purchase at the most competitive international levels.

"We feel very confident that the reorganisation recently completed will result in a tremendous improvement in stock availability and service to our customers,” says Mr Evans, adding that his new managers are keen to attack the market vigorously.
