The parade, of 230 men from each unit, also included military manoeuvres, a combined band display, and parachuting. The alliance is the first by a Singapore unit with a foreign military group. Its object is to strengthen ties between the units through exchanges of information on training, regimental histories, and traditions. The New Zealand Battalion has been stationed in South-East Asia for 25 years.
