Dairy sales show rise
PA Wellington New Zealand dairy sales to the South Pacific Islands last year were worth $24 million, a 50 per cent rise on the previous year, said the Dairy Board. Sales this year are expected to reach $3O million.
The board said the main markets for the 11,000 tonnes of produce exported were Fiji, Papua New Guinea, Tahiti, and New Caledonia. Fiji remains the most important market in the region, although butter sales slipped after rapid price increases led to consumer resistance.
