Gambler jailed

PA Wellington A compulsive gambler who spent $61,120 of Post Office money betting on racehorses was jailed for eight months when he appeared for sentence in the District Court at Wellington.

He is Boyce Moeawa Whangapirita, aged 27, a supervisor, who had pleaded guilty to 27 charges of using Post Office documents for the purposes of obtaining a pecuniary advantage and to four charges of forgery.
