Aircraft unsold

PA Auckland Air New Zealand's four unsold Douglas aircraft await buyers at Mangere. and their total price tag could be anywhere between $3O million and $6O million. The two DClOs have been for sale since late last year. The American aviation consiultant, S. S. Colker and Associates, have said that the airline must make “agressive efforts” to get rid of them. If idle, the DClOs will cost the airline about $ll million a year through depreciation, maintenance. and other costs. One of the pair is nowbeing repainted. The DClOs have been given a book value of about $24 million each, but scores of similar jets are for sale world-wide and the present market value is probably between $lO million and $lB million. The two DCBs were taken out of service and offered for sale early this year. Their market value is believed to be between $5 million and $6 million each. However, there is a glut of used jets for sale on the international market and prices, have fallen considerably over the last year.
