N.Z. to take 700 Asian refugees
PA Wellington New Zealand will continue to take refugee families from Indo-China until the end of June next year, says the Minister of Immigration (Mr Malcolm).' The programme would concentrate on reuniting
families with relatives already in New Zealand. All refugees would be housed on arrival at the Mangere Reception Centre, where they would be medically cleared, have English language classes and learn about New Zealand.
The programme would continue with “greater flexibility and without fixed quotas,” he said. The numbers admitted would continue at about the same rate as last year — when about 700 refugees were brought in from Indo-China. •'
