General forecast: Fine over the North Island apart from areas of cloud on the east coast this morning and a few showers in northern districts. Generally cloudy over the South Island but becoming fine in Nelson, Marlborough, and Canterbury during the morning. Showery periods are expected in Westland and Fiordland, but with fine intervals late in the day. District forecasts: Canterbury; Moderate northeasterlies about the coast, but north-westerlies freshening inland; cloudy, with coastal drizzle night and morning about and

north of Banks Peninsula, but fine intervals developing. Nelson, Buller; Mainly fine with light winds, but cloudy at times; frosts, but mild this afternoon. Marlborough: Fine with moderate northerlies predominating; frosts, but mild by afternoon.
