Pokai Whenua impresses
The Joe Winika-trained Pokai Whenua was by far the most impressive winner at the Christchurch Greyhound Racing Club’s penalty-bearing meeting at Queen Elizabeth II Park on Monday evening. Contesting the Class 1. 330 m event, Pokai Whenua (Patris— Ruapeka) made a brilliant beginning from box two and gave his rivals a real lesson, winning by the best part of 10 lengths and recording a very smart 20.175. Airborne Taff just shaded Tiger
Planet for second, but was completely outclassed by the winner. Ben Torres.-a winner at Chertsey the previous day, repeated the dose in the maiden 560 m event, doing best in a very tight finish to beat Bonny Pardon by a head, with a similar margin back to the fast-finishing Smuggler’s Charm. The consistent Feet Up broke through for an overdue victory in the maiden sprint, leading throughout to easily beat Mosstigo Dancer and Windy Flight.
