N.Z. soccer for U.K. TV
NZPA staff correspondent London British television will screen a programme on the emergence of New Zealand soccer as a prelude to New Zealand’s first appearance in the World Cup finals. The programme, which is scheduled to be screened in early June, will be made by a Scottish television commentator, Archie McPherson, during a short visit to New Zealand early next month with Scotland’s manager, Jock Stein. The two Scots will watch New Zealand play the League of Ireland at Mt Smart on May 8 and at Gisborne on May’l2. Mr McPherson said the visit would allow him to
make the 25min programme, which will be shown on the 8.8.C.’s weekly programme. "Sportsnight." as well as to
familiarise himself with the New Zealand players, who will be Scotland’s first-up opponents in Spain.
