Mr T. Double
A prominent member of the North Canterbury Catchment and Regional Water Board, Mr Thomas Double, died recently. He was 71. Mr Double was chairman of . the board’s executive and finance committee. A recent reshuffle of committees put him at the head of the new administration committee. He was. elected to the board in 1971. He was its representative on the regional planning committee of the Canterbury United Council. From 1977 until 1980 he was its representative on the former Canterbury Regional Planning Council. In the 1950 s and early 19605, Mr Double was prominent in several organisations in Southland. He was chairman of the Southland Federated Farmers, and on the directorate of the Southland Phosphate Company. He was on the training committee of the Alliance Freezing Company, deputy chairman of the Southland Catchment Board, and a. member of the electoral college of the Meat
Board and Wool Board. Mr Double was a member of the North Christchurch Lions Club, and a charter member and former president of the Lumsden Lions Club. He served in the 19th Battalion, 2nd N.Z.E.F., in World War 11. Mr Double is survived by his wife and five sons.
