N.Z. loses golf

NZPA Tokyo Japan came from behind to beat New Zealand after the second and final round of the second Japan-New Zealand golf match in the southwestern Japanese port city of Kobe. The four-man Japanese team won the competition by seven strokes (891 to 884) to score the second straight victory since the annual golf event between Japanese and New Zealand top amateurs started last year. Japan's Masayuki Naito shot 75 and 73, Tetsuo Sakata 73 and 76. Kazuihiko Kato 75

and 73 and Kyotaka Oie 75 and 75 for total best three scores of 444. The New Zealanders scored a best-three total of 454 after Paul Hartstone fired 72 and 79, Tony Treen 81 and 77, Michael Barltrop 75 and 74 and Colin Taylor 77 and 79. Although the four New Zealand players led by three strokes from the first match played ' last Sunday, they proved no match for the Japanese line-up on the treacherous, rain-soaked, heavily bunkered Hirono course.
