First barley sale
PA Ashburton The South Island Export Barley Society has made its first sale of barley from the 1982 crop and has announced an interim price of $lOO per tonne. The 15.000 tonne sale to an international trader relates/ to only 25 per cent ojf the'
total quantity to be sold, the society's chairman (Mr G. B. Robertson) has told growers. He said the price would be reviewed as further sales were made and an additional payment made to those growers who had already delivered at a lower interim orice.
