Awards fashion showing

In vogue

Paula Ryan

A two-hour, fully choreographed show featuring garments from the Benson and Hedges-Helena Rubinstein Fashion Awards will be staged at the Merivale Mall on Monday evening. March 29. Presented by the fashion awards co-ordinator, Maysie Bestall-Cohen and her team of nine Auckland models, this presentation promises to be one of the highlights of the 1982 fashion calendar. The awards were launched at a gala function at Trillos, in Auckland this Tuesday to a capacity audience. The show at Merivale Mall will be part of a national promotional charity tour throughout the country in aid of the I.H.C. A limited number of tickets are available

at Quinn’s Fashions or Kimberley’s at Merivale Mall, and also at Pieter’s Model Agency. The scope of the awards this year was wider than in past years with the introduction of manufacturers’ categories as well as independent designers, resulting in several manufacturers taking a large share of the awards. “We are delighted with the response from manufacturers regarding their inclusion in the awards,” said Maysie Bestall-Cohen. “And it has been pleasing that the New Zealand Wool Board, which has for many years been associated with Benson and Hedges in promoting fashion has wholeheartedly supported the changes,” she added.
