Motueka’s Town Clerk dismissed

PA Nelson The Motueka Borough Council has decided to dismiss its Town Clerk, Mr John Bogers, with three months notice. Yesterday's decision came after a row in the council during the last fortnight over Mr Bogers's salary. The dismissal was opposed by the Mayor, Mr David Kennedy, and the Deputy Mayor, Cr James Fry. but

was supported by the other seven councillors. It comes seven years after the Motueka Borough Council dismissed its previous Town Clerk. Most of the discussion was held in committee. In a public statement last week, Mr Bogers said he had put the seal on his contract document without council approval. He said his action was “silly” and he regretted it, but he had not committed any fraud.
