General forecast: Moderate southerlies covering New Zealand, bringing a few showers to Northland, Gisborne, and the south coast of the South Island, also a few light showers or drizzle patches about the South Island east coast. Over the rest of the country; mainly fine. District forecasts: Canterbury; Becoming generally fine by this afternoon, a period of cool southwesterlies is expected early in the morning, otherwise moderate variable winds. Nelson: Fine with daytime sea breezes, mild this afternoon.

Marlborough: Mainly fine, generally light variable winds; a brief period of fresh southerlies on the coast later today, mild this afternoon. Buller: Cloudy at first with patches of drizzle, but becoming fine by this after noon: cool. Westland: Cloudy areas a' first, but becoming gener ally fine; light winds south-westerlies prevail ing, cool nights.
