New commander at Wigram

Wing Commander K. A. Jones has been appointed commanding officer of the flying training wing at the Royal New Zealand Air Force base at Wigram. He succeeds Wing Commander I. A. Wright who has taken up an appointment with the Ministry of Defence in Wellington. Wing Commander Jones, of Karamea, joined the R.N.Z.A.F. in 1961 and after training as a navigator, served in Canberra jet air- • craft with No. 14 Squadron and the Strike Support Unit at Ohakea, After pilot training he flew Vampire and Skyhawk’ aircraft at Ohakea. He later trained as a flying instructor and, after a year with the pilot training squadron at Wigram, joined No. 14 Squadron. After a time with No. 75 Squadron, Wing Commander Jones took, up an appointment in the headquarters of

the Five Power Integrated Air Defence Systems at Butterworth, Malaysia. He returned to New Zealand last year to the appointment of officer commanding No. 14 Squadron.
