Weak trend slows
Although falls outnumbered rises by nearly four to one, the weak trend?, appeared to be steadying on the New Zealand sharemarket yesterday. The N.Z.U.C. industrial index eased 1.31 points in moderately active trading. Healing gained 10c to 180 c in response to the announcement that the New Zealand Motor Corporation had obtained a substantial interest in the company,•'and Fletcher Challenge firmed 1c ahead of going ex dividend today. Newspaper issues were mixed. N.Z. News rose 3c and Wilson and Horton eased sc. Feltex lost 4c to 170 c in spite of its good profit report on Monday, and other big issues to fall included Cable Price Downer, Goodman, L. D. Nathan, and New Zealand South British. Waitaki N.Z. Refrigeration lost Bc, and National Insurance eased a further 3c.
