Air Force training flights

Sir,—Living close to the Wigram airfield as I do, I often witness the Wigram aerobatic team practising their precision team flying. S. Clarke (March 10) states: “The Air Force aircraft practise low-level flying over the central city area.” I have never seen the aircraft, apart from re-forming into formation, fly outside or perform aerobatic manoeuvres, outside the boundary of the airfield. Since the “aeros” are performed over the Wigram airfield I fail to see how they possibly could present a danger to the city area. If Mr Clarke is so worried about Air Force aircraft flying over the city, perhaps we should stop all aircraft flying across the city, in order to safeguard Mr Clarke’s “peace of mind.” — Yours, etc., B. GREY. March 16, 1982.
