Two orders gained by Hewlett-Packard
Two new orders for HP 3000 computer systems have been gained by HewlettPackard. HP 3000 Series 44 computers have been sold to Glaxo (N.Z.). Ltd. in Palmerston North. Shell. BP and Todd Oil Services in New Plymouth and an unnamed Auckland service bureau, believed to be the computer service arm of Rothmans. An HP 3000 Series 40 has been ordered by the New Zealand Plumbers Merchants' Society in Palmerston North. Hewlett-Packard have produced two new processors in
their HP 1000 range of 16-bit computers. The new processors are called the A6OO and the A7OO. The A7OO, the fastest HP 1000 yet. cam perform up to 450,000 floating-point operations a second. Each processor supports up to four megabytes of main memory and up to 200 megabytes of disc storage. The systems use a new realtime executive that supports virtual addressing. Hewlett-Packard term the A6OO a microcomputer and aim to sell it in the microcomputer market. The A7OO is aimed at the high-per-formance minicomputer 'user.
